FINAL COUNTDOWN (cue the kazoos)

You could not handle the epicness of that song played on kazoo. Your brain threatened to blow up at the sheer awesome.

But you want to know what’s even more awesome

Dragons of Londinium.

What could be more awesome than a dragon determined to rescue an orphan from a terrible city?

What could be more awesome than the ancient evil that made the city facing the threat of dragons… and savoring the challenge?

What could be more awesome than three teen girls having to stand up to a force that makes dragons fear?

Dragons of Londinium will end its campaign in about thirty-six hours. And then, at long last, I will stop telling you to go click the link. You will have weathered the storm.

But you’re not there yet.

You need to click the link.

Make this the most successful campaign we’ve ever run. We’re actually not far off. You could make all the difference to this indie author.

You like dragons. You like the fall of oppressive systems. You like Victorian slang and lowlies getting what’s theirs.

So click the link!

One Week Left!

We have one week left in our Dragons of Londinium campaign! This is YA steampunk, so yes, a little different audience than my last book, Mr. Frankie. However, I suspect that if you’re a dragon lover, you’ll still love these books!

What’re they about?

Welcome to Londinium, City of Gears.

The people are weary, gray, and worn.

The ticking of the gears rules over all.

But then . . . dragons arrive.

An angry orphan finds a dragon egg.

A disabled storyteller unknowingly feeds them poison.

A dancer sparks their rage at something even more dangerous.

When dragons fill the skies, three teen girls will change everything.

You can find out more at the campaign, of course. If you haven’t clicked over to it before, please check it out! We’ve unlocked two stretch goals, and we’re thisclose to unlocking special chapter decorations.

I’d love to see you over there if you haven’t backed already! (And if you have… thank you!)

One Midnight Gone!

[insert cry of disgust and pain here]

So, Kickstarter campaigns almost all run the same way:

  • Burst of backers right at the start
  • Vast desert of few backers in the middle
  • Little uptick of backers at the end

And we have reached the middle of the campaign. One week in out of a three week campaign. That means what we have for Dragons of Londinium right now is going to remain about right here, if we follow the usual pattern.

It’s frustrating for a lot of creators, including me.

There’s a song in the musical Into the Woods. In the show, many of the characters have a timeline to find their greatest wishes: Three midnights. And at the first midnight, they all sing, “One midnight gone!” Some are frustrated, as their wishes seem so far away. Some are excited, because they got closer!

And that’s where I’m at right now. Dragons of Londinium is fully funded. The books will happen! That’s awesome! We’ve even unlocked two stretch goals, so backers (and only backers!) will get two bonus dragonrider short stories!

[Cue Ariel voice] But I want mooooooooooore…

I really want to unlock the next stretch goal, which would allow us to add some awesome chapter decorations. And honestly, I’d love to unlock enough short stories that instead of a few short stories, everyone gets a collection of exclusive short stories.

This is part of writing: Being grunlted and disgruntled all at once. Being proud of what’s been accomplished but driving to do more.

Could you help? I would love it if you’d click over to the Kickstarter and take a look. And if the books look good to you… back them. And either way, please share the campaign on your social media. It honestly helps get the word out so much more than what I can do on my lonesome!

We’ve got two weeks left in the campaign. Miracles have already happened… and more could happen still!

And if you’ve already backed the campaign, if you’ve already shared on social media, thank you so, so much. It’s because of you that the dragons already fly.

Now… one midnight gone!

The Time is NOW!

Dragons of Londinium is live on Kickstarter! Help make this trilogy a reality!

You can make the trilogy soar! Back it now!

How much… is too much?

In just over a week, my next Kickstarter launches. What’s it about?

Welcome to Londinium, City of Gears. The lowlies keep their heads down. The people are gray, cogs for the machines. The constables work for the coal barons. The Well-Dressed Man hunts his prey.

And then the dragons come.

An angry orphan finds a dragon egg.

A disabled teen accidentally tells a poisoned story.

A dancer carries a tree into the iron city, and with it something much, much older.

In a city where dragons eat stories, three teen girls will change everything.

A complete YA steampunk trilogy. With dragons. Yeah, I’m excited about it.

If you follow me on Twitter or Bluesky or Instagram or Facebook or… um, my wife is posting on some social media… are we on Youtube? I should look into that.

Anyway, I’ve been posting daily for about a week about the campaign. I’m posting quotes, blurbs about each of the books, talking about the origins of the story… I want people to know about the campaign, and to follow the campaign. (I’d love it if you’d click this link and then click “Notify me on launch.” Kickstarter will send you an email when we go live on February 11!)

And I wonder… how much is too much posting? I see some authors posting about their writing… a lot. Seven, eight times a day they’ll post about this or that book. Other authors don’t talk about their stuff at all.

Part of me really, really shies away from posting too much, which means I tend to not post at all about my books.

On the other hand, the way social media works these days, posting once a day actually won’t get your words in front of a lot of people.

So… how much is too much?

Yeah. I don’t have an answer. But I plan to keep posting daily. And if you want to encourage this writer, again, I’d love it if you’d click the link and then click “Notify me on launch.” It would mean the world to me!
