Ever dance with a story?

She smiled at me. “I’m so glad I met you tonight.” It’s what you’re supposed to say in an evening like this.

I’m glad I met you,” I answered, because that’s how you’re supposed to answer.

She looked distant then. “You should probably go soon. I don’t want to die.”

“Stories Dance” will appear in The Spell Books, a collection of fantasy stories about festivals. The book will be released June 1st. I’ll share more info as it becomes available, but in the meantime… enjoy the cover!

Judge a Book by its…

I finished an almost-last draft of a novel! Or maybe novels! I don’t know! (Word counts are hard.) Either way, it’s sitting with my editor. After that, I’ll take a look at her notes, revise as necessary, and then…

And then.

Whew.

I may self-publish. I’ve been actively learning this whole publishing thing, and I may give it a try. And if I do, that means I’m on the hook for that cover thing.

You know. That first thing you see when you’re scanning through Amazon. Or looking through a bookstore. Or digging through someone’s trash.

EEEEEEEEEEEE and Other Professional Statements

So, I just got a proof back of a story that’ll be published in the beginning of the next year. (I’ll be posting when and where to find it once it’s available for order.) The proof of the story was good; I found two typos and had them fixed. The proof included an image of the cover.

My name was on the cover.

In case the fire alarm scream was unclear, I was quite pleased to see my name there. Now, my name was listed among a bunch of other authors, so it’s not like I was the sole focus. Frankly, if I wasn’t looking for my name, I may have missed it, just because there’s a lot of authors working on this project.

But my name was there. It’ll be in print. On the cover.
