…and sometimes it wants to say, “TIME TO DIE, MR. BOND!”
This week I was going to tackle a novella. Something short, sweet, and fun.
And then I ended up in the emergency room.
Tuesday morning I woke with pain in my chest and left arm. Yeah. I woke my wife and we headed to the emergency room. They sent me home several hours later with some meds and an appointment for a cardiologist, but at least at that moment I didn’t need anything else.
Wednesday I was sluggish… and ended up going back to the emergency room because of a huge blood pressure jump. Once again, after several hours, they sent me home.
Thursday, well, I was still in pain… but I was able to function, just slowly.
And Friday I saw the cardiologist… but as I write this, that hasn’t happened yet. I can’t tell you how it went. Maybe they found out I have two hearts and am actually a Time Lord. That would be pretty sweet. Somehow I doubt that happened, though.
I sat in that emergency room for hours. It meant I got a lot of reading done! Three books’ worth! So that was nice.
But not a whole lot of writing. That novella? Yeah. Nothing short, sweet, and fun was typed up, rough draft or otherwise.
Poo.
On the one hand, I’m so blessed to have this medical care available to me. I’m so glad I can go to the emergency room and be seen relatively quickly. I’m glad I’ve been assigned a cardiologist that I can get specialist help. I’m glad the pain was light enough I was able to read for most of it.
But I’m also annoyed that I “wasted” the time in the emergency room when, clearly, I could have been getting something done. Why waste that much time when it wasn’t something serious? I mean, it could have been a heart attack, but no. Looking at it now, I honestly feel a little silly.
Which is also silly. I mean, it’s better to get these kind of things checked out, right?
So, yeah. Not much on the writing front this week, because life happens. And that’s okay. Writing is not more important than getting to an emergency room when there’s a health emergency.
But maybe next week I can make up for it and get lots of writing done, huh?
Wow! I’m glad to hear you’re done ok. I know it’s not as bad as it could’ve been — but take it easy!!
