One Midnight Gone!

[insert cry of disgust and pain here]

So, Kickstarter campaigns almost all run the same way:

  • Burst of backers right at the start
  • Vast desert of few backers in the middle
  • Little uptick of backers at the end

And we have reached the middle of the campaign. One week in out of a three week campaign. That means what we have for Dragons of Londinium right now is going to remain about right here, if we follow the usual pattern.

It’s frustrating for a lot of creators, including me.

There’s a song in the musical Into the Woods. In the show, many of the characters have a timeline to find their greatest wishes: Three midnights. And at the first midnight, they all sing, “One midnight gone!” Some are frustrated, as their wishes seem so far away. Some are excited, because they got closer!

And that’s where I’m at right now. Dragons of Londinium is fully funded. The books will happen! That’s awesome! We’ve even unlocked two stretch goals, so backers (and only backers!) will get two bonus dragonrider short stories!

[Cue Ariel voice] But I want mooooooooooore…

I really want to unlock the next stretch goal, which would allow us to add some awesome chapter decorations. And honestly, I’d love to unlock enough short stories that instead of a few short stories, everyone gets a collection of exclusive short stories.

This is part of writing: Being grunlted and disgruntled all at once. Being proud of what’s been accomplished but driving to do more.

Could you help? I would love it if you’d click over to the Kickstarter and take a look. And if the books look good to you… back them. And either way, please share the campaign on your social media. It honestly helps get the word out so much more than what I can do on my lonesome!

We’ve got two weeks left in the campaign. Miracles have already happened… and more could happen still!

And if you’ve already backed the campaign, if you’ve already shared on social media, thank you so, so much. It’s because of you that the dragons already fly.

Now… one midnight gone!
